What it is
A ready-made layer on top of WireGuard that removes manual key and route management โ all devices find each other in a single mesh network.
How we use it
When many devices need connecting quickly without a dedicated VPN administrator โ the team just installs the app and connects.
Where it helps a business
- Staff laptops, servers and home computers need to be joined into one network quickly.
- There is no dedicated VPN administrator, and nobody will manage keys by hand.
How we use it
We suggest Tailscale when many devices must be connected quickly without a dedicated administrator: the team installs the app and connects, and the devices find each other. If nothing should depend on an external service, or access to foreign work tools under restrictions is needed, we build our own setup: a private WireGuard network or a corporate gateway on the company's servers. More under Infrastructure.
Common problems
- Dependence on a service. The network is managed through an external service, and if it is unavailable or restricted, new devices cannot join.
- A departed employee's access. The device must be removed from the network on the day they leave.
When you do not need it
If there are few devices and someone can set up WireGuard on your own server, an external service is unnecessary.
