What it is
A library that embeds a full torrent client right into an Android app, with no separate program.
How we use it
In OshaPlay it is the built-in torrent client: whatever is found in the combined search across four sources downloads straight into the library.
Where it helps a business
When an app needs to download large files from distributed sources and put them straight into its own library, with no separate program and no manual transfer.
How we use it
In the OshaPlay player libtorrent4j is the built-in torrent client: a combined search runs across RuTracker, Bandcamp, Jamendo and Live Music Archive, and whatever is found downloads straight into the library.
Common problems
- Source protection. Because of a Cloudflare check, the user signs in to RuTracker themselves in the built-in browser.
- Not everything is tested. Buying and downloading from Bandcamp was checked only on the client's phone, and Jamendo has not been tested without a key; this is listed among the limitations.
- Torrents and VPN. In our VPN client torrents always bypass the tunnel, and on the VPN server they leave through a separate exit to avoid hosting complaints.
When you do not need it
If files come from a single source of your own, an ordinary download by link is simpler.
