What it is
An open-source software PBX (telephone exchange) โ it turns an internet connection into full telephony: calls, queues, forwarding, call recording, with no landline.
How we apply it
For a company's internal communications and customer lines โ with custom call-handling scenarios instead of the rigid settings of boxed PBX systems.
Where it helps a business
- Customers phone in, and calls need to be routed to managers, queued and recorded.
- An off-the-shelf PBX cannot do the call-handling scenario you need.
- Internal calls between offices should go over the internet, without ordinary phone lines.
How we use it
We offer Asterisk for a company's internal communication and customer lines when custom call-handling scenarios are needed instead of a boxed PBX's rigid settings. Our cases do not include telephony yet. If a team needs calls and chat rather than telephony, we build a voice platform in the browser, such as Peregovorka with voice going directly between participants. More under Infrastructure.
Common problems
- Call recording. Recordings are personal data, and their storage and access must be planned in advance.
- Without maintenance a PBX fails quietly. The failure shows up as customers' missed calls.
When you do not need it
If there are few calls and mobile phones or cloud telephony are enough, your own PBX is an unnecessary server.
